Preity Zinta Earns High Praise Frm Her Cricket Team Members

NEW DELHI – Punjab Kings all-rounder Shashank Singh has lauded the team’s co-owner, Preity Zinta, for her unwavering support and efforts during the 2025 Indian Premier League. Known for her presence at almost every match, Zinta has consistently cheered on the ‘Men in Red,’ offering encouragement through both highs and lows.

Several PBKS players have previously expressed appreciation for Zinta’s hands-on involvement. Singh, who joined the team in 2024, said her support has been invaluable to him and his teammates. “Personally, I’m very close to her. It’s always enjoyable to chat and converse with her. I was a bit shy when I joined the team, but now we casually chat and I love talking to her,” he said.

The 33-year-old recalled an incident during IPL 2025 that highlighted Zinta’s dedication. In the 58th match between PBKS and Delhi Capitals at HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, the game was called off midway due to a blackout and escalating unrest, forcing players and the crowd to vacate the venue immediately.

Singh described the tense situation: “Everyone was scared, including the crowd and players. The crowd was asked to leave, and we were taken off the field. We were handed our mobiles and asked to rush to the hotel. My respect for her grew threefold that day.”

He praised Zinta for personally overseeing the team’s safe return to Delhi. “She was up all night, ensuring our travel arrangements were smooth. We had to travel by train instead of the usual route, and she coordinated with drivers, checked food packing, and ensured our kit-bags were handled properly. She made sure not only our team but also the other team reached safely.”

Singh added, “Although she’s a big celebrity, she attended to the smallest details, even at the grassroots level, to ensure everyone was comfortable. Her dedication throughout that day, until we reached home, showed an army officer’s spirit. She truly deserves all the praise.”

Singh was last in action during the IPL 2025 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where Royal Challengers Bengaluru lifted their first-ever title in the tournament’s history. (IANS)
