Rancho Coming Back? Sequel To ‘3 Idiots’ Reportedly Underway

MUMBAI- Aamir Khan has reportedly begun work on the sequel to the 2009 blockbuster film ‘3 Idiots’, with actors R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi expected to reprise their roles.

According to an industry source, the sequel is currently in the pre-production stage. The source said the original trio – Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi -will return for the much-awaited follow-up.

The source further revealed that the sequel will feature a major time leap, with the characters shown at a different stage of life from the original film.

However, it remains unclear whether the story will take place before or after the events of ‘3 Idiots’.

The insider claimed that only Aamir Khan currently knows the exact direction of the storyline. Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, who directed the original film, is also reportedly expected to return for the sequel.

Aamir Khan’s character Rancho became one of the most iconic roles in contemporary Indian cinema following the release of ‘3 Idiots’, which focused on friendship, education and social pressure.

The film emerged as a major commercial success globally upon its release in 2009. (IANS)
