Abhijeet Complains About AR Rahman
MUMBAI (ANI)- Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya has made a striking claim about Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman, alleging that Rahman once kept Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awardees waiting for hours at his studio.
Abhijeet recounted his experience while recording the song Ae Nazneen Suno Na for the 1999 film Dil Hi Dil Mein, composed by Rahman. He said several well-known artists, including national award recipients, were seated on a bench downstairs for nearly three hours, waiting for Rahman to appear.
“What’s surprising is that Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awardees were made to sit on a bench downstairs… Rahman sir didn’t come down for two or two-and-a-half hours. Everyone was chatting to pass the time. I kept looking at my watch. Eventually, Rahman didn’t come down,” Abhijeet said.
He added that the song was recorded by Rahman’s assistant, and he left immediately after completing the track. “You have to believe that this is how the honor of Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awardees was treated,” he remarked.
For context, A.R. Rahman and Abhijeet Bhattacharya have collaborated on only one song — Ae Nazneen Suno Na from Dil Hi Dil Mein.
