Akshay Kumar: Today’s Actresses Are Better Prepared, Less Risk-Taking

MUMBAI-Actor Akshay Kumar believes that while today’s actresses enter the film industry far better prepared than previous generations, they are often less willing to take risks, particularly when it comes to multi-starrer films.

Akshay, who will next be seen in director Ahmed Khan’s comedy entertainer ‘Welcome to the Jungle’, said there are similarities across generations of actresses, but noted that younger performers arrive in the industry with greater training and awareness.

“They are all very professional. They are all good actresses. Today’s actresses are more prepared than we used to be. They know everything. They have learnt a lot before entering the industry,” he said.

Director Ahmed Khan echoed the sentiment, saying actors today are fundamentally stronger when they begin their careers.

“Earlier, actors used to be raw, we had to teach them. We had to teach them, fundamentally, what to do. Today, they are fundamentally correct,” Khan said.

Akshay, however, pointed to one area where he sees a difference from previous generations.

“Not a lot of multi-starrers are made these days because they are not ready to adapt to the fact that why should we work in a multi-starrer movie,” he said.

According to the actor, performers from an earlier era were more open to sharing screen space and taking creative risks.

“If you see, Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, Shashi Kapoor, Vinod Khanna, they all used to do films together. I think, if we can do multi-starrers, it will be good for the industry,” he added.

‘Welcome to the Jungle’ is scheduled to release in theatres on June 26, 2026. (IANS)
