Along With China, Russia, Saudi, Indians Most Happy About Trump Presidency: Survey
India-West News Desk
NEW DELHI – A global poll by the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) reveals that a majority of Indians support Donald Trump’s potential return as President of the United States, seeing it as beneficial for global peace and US-India relations.
The survey shows that 82% of Indian respondents believe Trump’s re-election would improve global peace, 84% view it positively for India, and 85% feel it would benefit American citizens.
India leads the ‘Trump Welcomers’ category, characterized by widespread approval of Trump’s leadership. Other nations in this group includes Saudi Arabia, Russia, South Africa, China, and Brazil. In these countries, a majority believe Trump’s return would be advantageous for their own countries, the US, and global peace.
In contrast, European nations remain skeptical. The UK, for instance, has a significant proportion of ‘Never Trumpers’—those who see his return as harmful to global peace and American interests. This sentiment is also found in countries like South Korea, Turkey, and Brazil.
The ECFR report, “Alone in a Trumpian World: The EU and Global Public Opinion after the US Elections,” notes the sharp divide between optimism in countries like India and the Middle East, and Europe’s wariness toward Trump’s leadership. While many in Europe view him as a disruptor, others in other parts of the world see him as a peacemaker.
The poll, conducted by YouGov, Datapraxis, and Gallup International, included responses from 24 countries.
