NEW YORK, NY – Americans4Hindus hosted a virtual meet and greet on December 21 with Saritha Komatireddy, a candidate for New York attorney general, as the organization steps up its political engagement ahead of the 2026 statewide race.

The event opened with remarks from Americans4Hindus Global President Pramit Makoday, who introduced Komatireddy as the only prosecutor currently in the race. Makoday highlighted her academic background at Harvard University and her experience teaching at Columbia University, describing her candidacy as a combination of legal training, academic credentials and courtroom experience.

Komatireddy outlined affordability and public safety as the two most urgent challenges facing New York. She pointed to her experience prosecuting serious criminal cases, including a case involving an ISIS terrorist, and said restoring safety across communities would be a central priority of her campaign. She also noted that her candidacy has drawn early attention from media outlets and community leaders since launching three weeks ago.

Americans4Hindus Communications Vice President Geeta Sikand emphasized the importance of civic participation by American Hindus, urging greater involvement in electoral politics to ensure consistent and substantive representation in public office.

Sandeep Deswal, Americans4Hindus social media chair and political strategist, said the group plans to support the campaign nationally, arguing that public safety concerns resonate beyond New York and have become a defining issue in major cities across the United States.
