FLUSHING, NY– As part of his mayoral campaign, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo visited the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir here, meeting with the Indian community and participating in traditional temple rituals.
Cuomo posted on X that the Hindu community is an essential cornerstone of New York’s mosaic. He said it was a tremendous delight visiting friends at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Flushing and added that every faith, every tradition, and every community has a place in the city, calling the diversity of New York City its greatest strength.

On August 24, before addressing the huge congregation, Cuomo paid respects at the altar.
Speaking to attendees, Cuomo drew on his experience as Governor, highlighting achievements such as legalizing same-sex marriage, implementing gun control measures, raising the minimum wage, and broadening Medicaid coverage.
On the campaign trail, Cuomo emphasized key priorities for New York City, including increasing subway security through a stronger uniformed police presence, and addressing mental health and homelessness challenges.

The New York Indians have better sense than voting for the old guard. The New York elite, Republicans and Democrats, have run out of most ideas for lifting the masses from the bottom up and putting restraints on the uncontrolled fattening bellies of the rich. They have been feeding the rich at the cost of keeping the poor on the street level to sweep and live off the crumbs thrown out from the windows of high-rise skyscrapers. The city needs new leadership for an equitable distribution of the fruit of its wealth, in terms of quality education, transportation, health services, and public order.
