ARLINGTON, TX  –  The Rotary Club of Arlington Highlands on April 16 marked its 9th anniversary with a program recognizing service, leadership, and local collaboration.

One of the main segments of the evening was the presentation of the Paul Harris Fellow Award, a recognition given by Rotary International for notable service. This year’s recipients were Shabana Parvez, an Indian American physician and entrepreneur who currently serves as President of the Rotary Club of Arlington Highlands, as well as Jim Swann and Sue Welch, who were named Rotarians of the Year.

Parvez is the first person of Indian origin to serve as president of the Arlington Highlands chapter.

During the event, Indian American entrepreneur Tausif Malik announced the official registration of the global headquarters of his educational platform, RiseBack, in Arlington. Malik was inducted as an Honorary Rotarian in recognition of his work in promoting affordable higher education.

Arlington Mayor Jim Ross attended as the Chief Guest and delivered the keynote address. He spoke about the city’s ongoing development and its focus on education and innovation, welcoming RiseBack’s headquarters to the area.

The event also featured an update on the “Start Here, Go Anywhere” initiative—a collaboration between the Rotary Club and RiseBack. The program, which began earlier this year, was introduced through a video presentation by Parvez, who highlighted its objectives and early progress.
