ARTESIA, CA -The City of Artesia has earned the Gold Level Gateway Cities Energy Action Award for the third consecutive year, marking its position as a regional leader in sustainability. The honor was conferred during the 5th Annual GCEAA Ceremony held on December 9 at the SoCalGas Energy Resource Center in Downey.

The award program evaluates municipalities on their efforts to reduce energy consumption and implement climate-friendly strategies. Artesia’s Gold-level status was secured through several municipal initiatives executed over the past year, including facility upgrades and the acquisition of environmental grants.

Key projects contributing to the recognition include the installation of energy-efficient roofing materials at the AJ Padelford Park Community Center and the completion of landscaping and tree planting for the Historic District Recreation Trail. Additionally, the city successfully secured a Youth Community Access Grant to fund local environmental programming.

In a statement regarding the achievement, Mayor Rene Trevino said the recognition reflects the city’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and investments that benefit both residents and the broader region.

The GCEAA framework monitors city activities such as infrastructure improvements and the integration of energy-efficient practices into daily municipal operations. By meeting these criteria, Artesia continues to support long-term regional strategies for environmental preservation. (IANS)
