Auto-Rickshaw Driver Describes Transporting Saif Ali Khan After Stabbing Incident

MUMBAI – Bhajan Singh Rana, an auto-rickshaw driver, provided crucial assistance in transporting Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan to Lilavati Hospital following a stabbing incident at his Bandra residence on January 16.

Rana explained that he was at the scene around 2 a.m. when he saw a woman attempting to hire an auto. After hearing calls for a rickshaw from inside the gate, he stopped near the entrance and observed a man covered in blood, accompanied by several others. Rana later recognized the individual as Saif Ali Khan, who was bleeding from his neck and back.

Rana assisted the actor, who walked into the auto, and drove him to the hospital. “The actor sat by himself in the three-wheeler. He did not seem scared and appeared normal,” informed Rana, who hails from Uttarakhand. Saif was also accompanied by a child, approximately seven or eight years old. The ride to Lilavati Hospital lasted around 8-10 minutes. Upon arrival, Saif identified himself and requested a stretcher from the hospital staff. He walked into the facility unaided.

Rana did not collect the fare after transporting Saif to the hospital, stating that he did not feel it was appropriate given the circumstances.

Saif underwent surgery to remove a 2.5-inch blade from his spine and to repair leaking spinal fluid. His condition is stable, and he continues to be monitored by medical professionals.

The Mumbai Police are investigating the incident, which they believe was an attempted burglary. Security footage is being reviewed, and no arrests have been made at this time.
