‘Bangabandhu, Bangladesh And Britain’ Dives Into Mujibur Rahman’s Legacy
NEW DELHI (ANI) – Bangabandhu, Bangladesh and Britain explores the pivotal life of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangladesh, and the nation’s journey to independence. Co-authored by Abu Syed and Priyajit Debsarkar, the book delves into key historical events, including the language movement, the Great Famine, economic exploitation, financial apartheid, and post-1971 diplomatic tensions.
Debsarkar emphasized the book’s relevance, stating, “This book is an important piece of nonfiction. I find it especially relevant today, as we reflect on Bangladesh’s journey post-5th August. It also honors the legacy of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, without whom Bangladesh would not exist on the world map.”
Beyond the independence movement, the book sheds light on East Pakistan’s economic struggles, the lasting impacts of financial apartheid, and the diplomatic tensions that followed Pakistan’s surrender in December 1971. Offering fresh insights into the political landscape of the time, Bangabandhu, Bangladesh and Britain serves as a crucial reminder of the struggles and triumphs that shaped modern Bangladesh.
