CANNES (ANI) – The Bharat Pavilion was officially inaugurated at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, marking a significant moment for India on the global cinema stage. The ceremony was graced by notable dignitaries, including filmmaker and IFFI Festival Director Shekhar Kapur and veteran actor Anupam Kher.

Highlighting the occasion, Shekhar Kapur spoke about the transformational power of cinema and India’s growing presence as a creative force worldwide. The event also saw the launch of the official poster and trailer of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025.

Gautam Bhanot of NFDC India, described the new IFFI poster as a reflection of the “convergence of creativity and technology,” emphasizing India’s readiness to lead in global content creation through innovation.

A major highlight of the event was the unveiling of the India Film Guide, a comprehensive resource aimed at showcasing India’s diverse filmmaking talent, international co-production incentives, and rich filming locations. The launch symbolized India’s commitment to global collaboration in the entertainment sector.

Anupam Kher, attending Cannes for the first time, shared an emotional message: “I am eight years younger than my country, and we grew together. We have really, really done very well. This is my first time in Cannes, I am so happy to be here in the Mahakumbh of cinema.”

Singer Astha Gill captivated the audience with a rendition of Saare Jahaan Se Achha, while Ravi Kottarakara, President of the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, was also present at the event.
