Cheesy Fraud? McDonald’s India Operator Denies ‘Fake Cheese’ Claims
India-West News Desk
MUMBAI, McDonald’s is under fire in Maharashtra, where the state Food and Drug Administration is accusing it of using cheese substitutes in burgers and nuggets, instead of actual cheese.
Westlife Foodworld Limited (WFL), which owns and operates McDonald’s restaurants across 11 states scrambled to explain that the cheese used in their products is real.
“Here’s a fact check for you: We use only real, quality cheese in all our products containing cheese. Our commitment to transparency in our ingredients and dedication to providing delicious, high-quality meals to our customers remains unwavering,” they said on LinkedIn, denying that there was cheaper vegetable oil in it.
The fracas began when Mumbai suspended the license of a McDonald’s outlet in Ahmednagar. The chain then scrubbed out the word “cheese” from various items. Maharashtra is demanding all corrective actions be applied state-wide and even nationally.

These franchisee WFL should not be allowed to sell Macdonald’s world-famous burgers. Macdonald should revoke the enfranchisement from WFL, for ruining the reputation of Macdonald. To cover their greed, they are bold enough to state they are maintaining the quality by using real cheese.
