AHMEDABAD (ANI)– West Indies cricket icon Chris Gayle, a former player for both Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), publicly expressed his support for his old teams ahead of their highly anticipated IPL 2025 final at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
Gayle’s pre-match display of solidarity went viral on Instagram, where he was photographed wearing a turban, symbolizing his allegiance to PBKS, alongside an RCB jersey and custom shoes featuring the Bengaluru team’s distinctive red and gold. Throughout his storied IPL career, Gayle was a key player for both franchises. From 2011 to 2017 with RCB, he amassed 3,163 runs in 85 matches at an impressive average of 43.33 and a strike rate of 152.73, including five centuries and 19 half-centuries, with a top score of 175 not out. Later, playing for PBKS from 2018 to 2021, he scored 1,339 runs in 41 matches, maintaining an average of 36.19 and a strike rate exceeding 143.21, which included one century and 10 fifties, with a highest score of 104 not out.
