STAMFORD, CT – Connecticut’s Indian American community held a reception and fundraiser on October 2, bringing together U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal and state Senate leaders for an interactive meeting.
The event was held at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Stamford, with Blumenthal serving as the chief guest. Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff and Senator Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox also participated.
The gathering followed the July 30 signing into law of legislation establishing the Connecticut–India Trade Commission. Championed by Gadkar-Wilcox, the legislation provides a framework for promoting trade, investment, business and academic exchanges between Connecticut and India.
The community also recognized Duff for his engagement with the community and his participation in several initiatives.
The organizers formed Indian Americans for Connecticut Senate Leadership under the Democratic Senate Majority PAC to encourage greater civic and political participation and strengthen engagement with elected officials.
Following remarks by the senators, attendees took part in a question-and-answer session, shared suggestions and discussed issues important to Connecticut and its residents.
The event was organized by Dr. Thomas Abraham with Joe Simon serving as host.
