First Look: Sunny, Preity In ‘Batwara 1947’

MUMBAI-The makers of ‘Batwara 1947’ on June 17 unveiled the character posters of the film’s principal cast, offering a first look at actors Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh in the upcoming Partition-era drama.

The posters present the characters in period-specific attire and depict the hardships, courage and resilience of people living through the upheaval of Partition.

Sharing the posters on social media, the makers wrote, “In a world torn apart, their story was a testament to courage. Meet the people who lived through it all Batwara 1947, in theatres from 14th August.”

Earlier this month, the makers released the film’s motion poster featuring actors Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta and Shabana Azmi. The promotional material showed Sunny Deol amid scenes of unrest and violence before depicting him holding a flaming torch while standing in front of his family.

Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi, ‘Batwara 1947’ reunites the director with Sunny Deol nearly three decades after their collaborations on ‘Ghayal’, ‘Damini’ and ‘Ghatak’.

The film is produced by actor Aamir Khan and producer Aparna Purohit under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions. Music has been composed by A.R. Rahman, with lyrics by Javed Akhtar.

‘Batwara 1947’ is scheduled to release in theatres on August 14, 2026. (IANS)
