Folsom City Council Candidate Named A Sacramento ‘Change Maker’

FOLSOM, CA – Jag Nagendra, a candidate for Folsom City Council, has been named one of the 2026 Top 60 Change Makers, a regional honor presented by The Sacramento Bee and the Nehemiah Leaders Programs.

The recognition highlights Nagendra’s work in engineering, public service and community leadership as he campaigns for a seat on the Folsom City Council.

Nagendra immigrated to the United States at age 29 and first settled in Virginia before moving to California. He became involved with the India Association of Davis and later joined the Sacramento County sheriff’s office outreach board. After settling in Folsom, he became a regular participant in City Council meetings and local civic affairs.

He is currently a Principal Engineer with the California Department of Water Resources, where he manages a team of engineers and IT professionals working on the state’s water infrastructure.

Nagendra has also served an eight-year term on the California Expo and State Fair Cultural Advisory Council and has been involved with the Project Management Institute’s Sacramento Valley chapter.

“As an immigrant who left everything behind in India to start from scratch in the United States, I never imagined I would one day be recognized for decades of work helping individuals and organizations reach their full potential,” Nagendra said.
