Gauri Khan Celebrates SRK’s First National Award: ‘So Deserving’
MUMBAI- Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan and actor Vikrant Massey were honored with the 71st National Award for Best Actor. SRK was presented with the Rajat Kamal for his work in the pan-India film ‘Jawan’, while Massey was recognized for his performance in ’12th Fail’. This marks the first-ever National Award for both actors.
The awards were conferred by President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The event was organized by the National Film Development Corporation of Indiaand featured a structured jury system with a central committee chaired by filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker.
For Shah Rukh Khan, this award is particularly special as it’s his first in a career spanning more than three decades. Widely regarded as the “King of Bollywood,” SRK has appeared in over 80 films and has received numerous international recognitions, including the UNESCO’s Pyramide con Marni Award and the Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur, along with the Padma Shri in 2005.
His wife, Gauri Khan, congratulated him on social media, saying the award was a result of his “years of hard work and dedication.” She also mentioned she was designing a special mantle for the award.
Upon receiving the award, SRK shared his gratitude in a video, stating, “A National Award is not just about achievement. It’s a reminder that what I do matters. It tells me to keep going, keep working hard, keep creating and keep serving cinema. In a world full of noise to be heard, truly heard is a blessing.”
Like SRK, Vikrant Massey transitioned from television to cinema, gaining recognition for his roles in ‘A Death in the Gunj’ and ‘Chhapaak’. He has also received praise for his work in the OTT series ‘Mirzapur’ and ‘HIT: The First Case’. (IANS)
