WASHINGTON, DC, – India has opened eight new Indian Consular Application Centers across the United States, significantly expanding access to consular services for the Indian diaspora.
In a video message shared on X, India’s Ambassador to the U.S., Vinay Kwatra, announced that the new centers are located in Boston, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, Addison, Orlando, Raleigh, and San Jose. An additional center is also set to open soon in Los Angeles.
“These new centers will greatly enhance our ability to provide timely and efficient consular services to the Indian community,” Kwatra said. “They will also help make service delivery faster and more accessible to our vibrant diaspora.”
Beginning August 1, all Indian Consular Application Centers will also operate on Saturdays to improve service availability. The government has streamlined several miscellaneous consular services, which can now be accessed through these centers, though certain key services will continue to be handled directly by the embassy.
Kwatra emphasized the importance of strong community ties: “People-to-people connections are at the core of the India-U.S. partnership. The opening of full Indian consulates in Boston and Los Angeles, as previously announced by the Prime Minister, will further strengthen those bonds—especially in those two cities.”
According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, approximately 5.4 million people of Indian origin live in the U.S., the third-largest Asian group in the country.

I hope it’s a good move where our people can get good support in an hour of despair.
