India Expands Fast Track Immigration To 5 More Airports
NEW DELHI- India’s Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme has been expanded to five more airports: Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Trichy, Kozhikode, and Amritsar.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the expansion, which brings the total number of airports with this facility to 13, including existing ones in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata.
The initiative simplifies and speeds up the immigration process for eligible pre-verified travelers. Initially launched in 2024, the program is currently available to Indian nationals and OCI cardholders and aims to significantly reduce waiting times at airports from as long as 30 minutes to just a few seconds using biometric e-gates.
To use the program, travelers must first register online at the official portal (ftittp.mha.gov.in.). This process involves providing personal details, including biometrics such as fingerprints and facial images, which can be submitted at designated immigration counters at participating airports or at Foreigners Regional Registration Offices. Once registered, passengers can use the e-gates by scanning their boarding pass and passport, and after a quick biometric verification, the gate opens automatically.
Over 3 lakh travelers have already registered for the FTI-TTP, with 2.65 lakh having used the facility. (With IANS inputs)
