WASHINGTON, DC – Some Indian business leaders attended a private reception on January 19 ahead of Donald Trump’s inauguration as the 47th president of the United States. Among the attendees were Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, and his wife, Nita Ambani; Ashish Jain, Managing Director of Pune-based Kundan Spaces; Pankaj Bansal, Managing Director of M3M Developers; and Kalpesh Mehta, Founder of Tribeca Developers and the licensed Indian partner for Trump Towers projects.

The Ambanis conveyed their optimism for stronger India-U.S. relations under Trump’s second term. They highlighted the potential for enhanced global collaboration and wished the president-elect a transformative tenure.

Ashish Jain, a veteran of the real estate industry with over two decades of experience, also interacted with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Donald Trump’s son, Eric Trump, during the reception. Jain expressed enthusiasm about potential opportunities for Indian businesses in the U.S.

Kalpesh Mehta and Pankaj Bansal, key figures in the Trump Towers developments in India, were invited as part of the friends-and-family group that included other global Trump business partners. Mehta has played a pivotal role in establishing the Trump brand in India.

The inaugural celebrations began on January 18 with a reception and fireworks display at Trump National Golf Club in Virginia. The events have drawn major donors, with high-tier contributions of $1 million granting direct access to Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance at private gatherings. This represents a significant increase from Trump’s first inauguration, where similar access required a $500,000 donation.
