India’s Independence Day Marked In Central Jersey

SOMERSET, NJ – The Indo-American Cultural Foundation of Central Jersey (IACFNJ) celebrated India’s Independence Day on August 16, with a festive event at the Shree Swaminarayan Temple here. The celebration featured vibrant cultural and patriotic performances and was attended by a large community and several local officials.
Organized in collaboration with the Shree Swaminarayan Temple, the event showcased a variety of activities and performances. The program included over 20 acts, with dances and songs by talented local groups, and a special performance by a visually impaired group of singers from India who performed patriotic songs.
Several elected officials were in attendance, including South Brunswick Mayor Charles Carley, Councilwoman Archana Grover, North Brunswick Councilman Rajesh Mehta, and New Jersey Board of Public Utilities Commissioner Upendra Chivukula.
IACFNJ President Dr. Tushar Patel addressed the crowd, noting, “We are fortunate to live in the USA and celebrate two of the world’s top democracies.”
