Kash Patel Remains Controversial, Dangerous Says ‘The Atlantic’

India-West News Desk

WASHINGTON, DC – Kash Patel, a 44-year-old Indian American, who played an outsize role behind the scenes when Donald Trump was president, remain ambitious and a devout follower of the GOP leader. Known for his unwavering loyalty to Trump, Patel has been described as someone who would do anything for the former president, according to an August 26 article by Elaina Plott Calabro in The Atlantic.

Patel’s career under Trump included sensitive roles as an adviser on the National Security Council and chief of staff to the acting secretary of defense. Now, he is a fellow at the Center for Renewing America, a conservative think tank that is collaborating with Trump’s team to shape the agenda if Trump gets elected.

Patel remains a controversial figure with even Trump officials and staffers wary of him. After the 2020 election, he was appointed chief of staff to acting defense secretary Christopher C. Miller. During this time, Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, advised Patel not to break the law to keep Trump in power.

When Trump considered appointing Patel as deputy director of the FBI, Attorney General Bill Barr strongly opposed the idea. Similarly, when Trump suggested naming Patel as deputy director of the CIA, agency head Gina Haspel threatened to resign.

Patel, in the time Trump has been out of office, has authored two children’s books that portray the former president as a heroic figure.

Growing up in Queens, New York, Patel graduated from law school at Pace University. He struggled to land a job at prestigious law firms and became a public defender and spent nearly nine years in local and federal courts in Miami before eventually joining the Justice Department.
