Kumbh Mela: Meet The Baba Who Has Not Bathed In 32 Years

PRAYAGRAJ, (ANI) – Gangapuri Maharaj, also known as Chhotu Baba, has become a focal point at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. A resident of Assam’s Kamakhya Peeth, the 57-year-old stands at 3 feet 8 inches tall and has not taken a bath in 32 years. “I do not take a bath because I have a wish that remains unfulfilled,” he explained, adding, “I will not take a bath in the Ganga.”

Known for his height and unique lifestyle, Baba stated, “This is Milan Mela. Soul to soul should be connected, and that’s why I’m here.”

The Maha Kumbh, celebrated every 12 years, is expected to draw millions of devotees between January 13 and February 26. To ensure safety, the district administration has implemented advanced crowd management measures, including deploying Quick Response Vehicles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), firefighting robots, and fire mist bikes. Firefighting boats, capable of using river water to douse flames, will also be operational soon.

Additionally, the Prayagraj division of North Central Railway has introduced a digital initiative to simplify ticketing. Railway personnel wearing green jackets with QR codes will assist pilgrims in downloading the UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) mobile app, allowing them to book tickets without standing in long lines.
