Large Turnout At Art of Living Yoga Event In Rancho Cordova

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA – More than 250 community members gathered at Village Green Park here on June 21 to celebrate the 12th International Day of Yoga. The event brought together individuals and families from diverse cultural backgrounds and age groups for a morning dedicated to yoga, mindfulness, wellness, and community connection.

The Art of Living Foundation thanked the City of Rancho Cordova’s Micro Grant Program for sponsoring the celebration and helping make the event free, welcoming, and accessible to families across the community.

Several organizations, including YogaSix, New Leaf Ayurveda, Brahma Kumaris Sacramento, and other community groups, helped organize the event.

The program welcomed children, youth, adults, seniors, experienced yoga practitioners, and first-time participants. It promoted physical and mental well-being, mindfulness, inner peace, cultural understanding, and stronger community ties.

Complimentary yoga mats were distributed to the first 100 families, enabling many participants to begin or continue their yoga practice at home. International Day of Yoga T-shirts were also distributed while supplies lasted as keepsakes of the celebration.

The event featured yoga and wellness booths hosted by local businesses and community organizations, a stem cell donor registration drive, an educational exhibit on assistive technology, face painting, and balloon twisting. Volunteers from the Art of Living Foundation also organized brownie, jewelry, and kindness coupon stalls, creating a family-friendly atmosphere for attendees.

Among the guests were Rick Sloan, Director of the Cordova Recreation and Park District; Bhupendra Yadav, Consular Officer at the Consulate General of India in San Francisco; and Y. K. Chalamcherla, Vice President of the Folsom Cordova Unified School District Board of Education.
