MUMBAI – The Met Gala, one of fashion’s most celebrated and exclusive global events, may soon welcome its first major Bollywood leading man to its famed red carpet—if social media speculation is to be believed.
On April 10 the Instagram account @DietSabya shared a cryptic post hinting at a high-profile collaboration between a top Bollywood actor and leading fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee for the 2025 Met Gala. The post read:
“Two titans of their craft—the greatest Bollywood superstar and the biggest designer of our generation—are joining forces for their Met Gala 2025 debut. This Bollywood icon is about to become the first Indian man to strut his ‘dandy’ on the Met carpet.”
The post instantly triggered online speculation, with fans trying to decode the mystery pairing. Many believe the “superstar” could be Shah Rukh Khan, possibly teaming up with renowned designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Others floated names like Amitabh Bachchan and Ranveer Singh, both known for their global appeal and distinct personal styles.
Actress Kubbra Sait even chimed in, commenting that she hoped it would be Ranveer Singh, widely recognized for his bold fashion statements.
The 2025 Met Gala theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrates the legacy of tailoring in Black fashion and culture. The official dress code—”Tailored for You”—is expected to inspire highly personalized, bespoke couture from attendees around the world.
While Bollywood stars such as Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Deepika Padukone have made memorable appearances at the Met Gala in the past, a debut by a male Bollywood icon would be a first.
