Nagarjuna Sues Minister Over Comments On Naga-Samantha Divorce

HYDERABAD, (ANI) – Nagarjuna Akkineni has taken decisive action against Telangana Congress Minister Konda Surekha by filing a criminal defamation case against her. This legal move follows Surekha’s recent controversial statements regarding Nagarjuna’s family and the divorce of his son, Naga Chaitanya, and actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

Surekha’s claims, which alleged that BRS leader KTR was involved in the couple’s divorce and had demanded that Samantha be sent to him in exchange for sparing Nagarjuna’s N-Convention Centre from demolition, has sparked widespread outrage and controversy in the film industry.

These allegations has faced backlash from the film industry with stars like Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun and others expressing shock over the statement.

Nagarjuna had previously expressed his anger at Surekha’s defamatory remarks, stating that he would not tolerate such baseless accusation. He has now taken concrete steps to protect his family’s honor and dignity by pursuing legal action.

In his petition, Nagarjuna accused Surekha of tarnishing the reputation of his family through her false and malicious statements. He specifically pointed out that the minister had falsely claimed that his son Naga Chaitanya’s divorce was a result of political interference.

As the legal proceedings unfold, it remains to be seen how the court will address Nagarjuna’s allegations and what consequences Surekha may face for her defamatory remarks. This case has highlighted the importance of responsible public discourse and the need to protect individuals from false and damaging accusations.

Nagarjuna’s wife Amala Akkineni slammed the minister. “Shocked to hear a woman minister turn into a demon, conjuring evil fictions allegations, preying on decent citizens as fuel for a political war. Madam Minister, do you rely on and believe people with no decency to feed you utterly scandalous stories about my husband without an iota of shame or truth? This is shameful,” Amala wrote.

Samantha herself reacted to the remarks and said that her divorce was a “personal matter.” She wrote that her divorce was “mutual consent and amicable” and there was no political conspiracy involved. Samantha also requested people to stop speculating about her divorce.

“To be a woman, to come out and work, to survive in a glamorous industry where women are more often than not treated as props, to fall in love to fall out of love, to still stand up and fight… It takes a lot of courage and strength,” the statement read.

Nagarjuna’s son, Naga Chaitanya, was previously married to actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu. They announced their separation on social media in a joint statement in October 2021.
