Raja: Hegseth Must Resign After Involving Wife And Brother In Classified Chat

SCHAUMBURG, IL – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) is doubling down on his demand for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s resignation after new reports revealed Hegseth shared classified military strike information with a private Signal chat that included his wife, brother, and personal attorney.

“Once again, Secretary Hegseth has endangered American service members by improperly sharing operational information through insecure channels,” Krishnamoorthi said. “This latest report — disclosing real-time military strike details to his family members — takes it to a new and deeply troubling level.”

This is the second time Hegseth has come under scrutiny for using private channels to share sensitive information. The Atlantic it will be remembered, had previously reported that he shared similar details in another Signal chat, which mistakenly included the magazine’s editor-in-chief and several senior Trump national security officials.

The leaked details pertained to a March airstrike on Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen.

“This repeated and reckless disregard for national security protocols puts lives at risk and violates the public trust,” Krishnamoorthi added. “He must resign immediately. If he refuses, President Trump must act for the safety of our service members and the country.”

Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), an Iraq War veteran and double amputee, also called for Hegseth’s resignation, stating he should “resign in disgrace.”

Photos released by the Pentagon show Hegseth’s wife, Jennifer—a former Fox News producer—participating in official meetings, including one with the British defense minister. His brother, a Department of Homeland Security liaison to the Pentagon, was also part of the chat.

The Pentagon has pushed back against the allegations. Spokesman Sean Parnell claimed the reports were driven by “disgruntled former employees” and accused the media of being “obsessed with destroying anyone committed to President Trump’s agenda.”
