WASHINGTON, DC – Democratic Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi of IL, has received the esteemed title of “Common Ground Champion” from the nonpartisan organization, the Common Ground Committee.

The committee, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting civil discourse and progress, recognizes individuals who actively seek points of agreement and solutions on social and political issues through listening and productive conversation.

The Common Ground Committee’s primary mission is to address the challenges of polarization and incivility in the nation, inspiring and motivating the public to seek common ground and promote healing.

Krishnamoorthi’s recognition was based on an analysis of his record in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he has served four terms. In response to the honor, the Indian American congressman expressed his gratitude, stating, “I am honored to be recognized by the Common Ground Committee for my approach to working with colleagues, regardless of party, to address the challenges facing our country.” He emphasized the importance of constructive engagement and a bipartisan, collaborative approach in serving his constituents effectively.

Having scored in the top 4% on the Common Ground Score Card’s evaluation of his official performance, personal actions, communications, and commitments, Krishnamoorthi has consistently demonstrated his unwavering dedication to combatting polarized thinking and governance. His efforts include working tirelessly to overcome gridlock and foster civil debate, where participants value facts and actively listen to each other, a press release said.
