Revival Of US Defense Ties – Pak Added To Raytheon Missile Deal

WASHINGTON, DC — The United States Department of War has confirmed that Pakistan will now receive Raytheon’s Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM), signaling a renewed chapter in U.S.-Pakistan defense cooperation. The announcement comes alongside an additional $41.6 million award to Raytheon, raising the total AMRAAM production contract to $2.5 billion.

Production is slated to take place at the company’s Tucson, Arizona, facility and is scheduled for completion by 2030.

Pakistan’s inclusion is notable because it was not listed among the recipients in the initial AMRAAM contract announced on May 7, suggesting a strategic recalibration in defense ties between Islamabad and Washington. Analysts view the move as a potential signal of stronger military collaboration amid shifting regional security dynamics.

The AMRAAM series has long been recognized for its precision, reliability, and advanced guidance systems, and the C8 and D3 variants represent some of the most modern capabilities in air-to-air missile technology. For Pakistan, the acquisition could enhance its aerial defense capabilities and interoperability with U.S.-supplied systems.
