Ro Khanna Denies Funding Claims, Says Attacks Tied To His Epstein File Stance
India-West News Desk
WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) has built his reputation as a progressive who champions transparency and anti-corruption reforms. But as online politics often proves, once a claim goes viral, it quickly takes on a life of its own.
That is what Khanna faced after a recent social media post alleged he accepted “tens of thousands of American dollars” in campaign donations from Mura Holdings LLC, an investment firm run by his father-in-law, Monte Ahuja.
The timing of the controversy was striking. Just days earlier, Khanna had joined Republican Rep. Thomas Massie in urging an “unsanitized release” of the Jeffrey Epstein files, not appreciated by supporters of President Donald Trump whose name is said to figure in it.
The post, circulated by Right Angle News Network, accused Khanna of benefiting from contributions “funneled” through his wife Ritu Ahuja’s parents and their company.
Khanna quickly responded, commenting directly beneath the viral post on September 29:

“These are individual contributions from family members in my first races for Congress and we disclosed the employers. I do not take a dime of corporate money, PAC money, or lobbyist money!”
He later suggested the attacks were politically motivated, tied to his outspoken positions on Epstein and foreign policy. “People are attacking me because I called for the Epstein files to be released and for Palestine to be recognized as a state. But I will hold my ground and continue to reject all special interest money,” he posted.
Khanna has positioned himself as a reformer on campaign finance. Earlier this year, he introduced the “Drain the Swamp Act,” which sought to bar lobbyists from giving gifts to White House officials—a pointed critique of Trump’s 2016 pledge.
