Saira Rahman: Not Divorced Yet, Don’t Call Me Ex-Wife

CHENNAI (ANI)- Composer AR Rahman’s estranged wife, Saira Rahman, has wished him a speedy recovery after he was hospitalized due to dehydration. She also clarified that while they are separated, they are not officially divorced, urging media outlets not to refer to her as his ex-wife.

Saira, who recently underwent surgery herself, expressed her willingness to support Rahman during this time. In a statement released through her lawyers, Vandana Shah and Associates, she said, “AR is in my prayers, and I wish him the best of health. As I recover from my surgery, I stand by him and appreciate the love and prayers from his fans and well-wishers.”

In an accompanying audio message, Saira added, “I wish him a speedy recovery. I heard he had chest pain and underwent an angiogram. By the grace of Allah, he is fine now.” She reiterated, “We are not officially divorced; we are still husband and wife. I was unwell for the past two years and didn’t want to stress him. I request the media not to call me his ex-wife.”

Saira and AR Rahman announced their separation in November last year after 29 years of marriage, citing “significant emotional strain.” They married in 1995 and share three children—Khatija, Raheema, and Ameen.

Meanwhile, Apollo Hospital confirmed Rahman was discharged on March 16 after a routine check-up. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin also reassured fans, stating that Rahman is fine.
