Sara Gurpal Receives Rape, Death Threats After TV Show
MUMBAI-Punjabi actress and singer Sara Gurpal has revealed that she received rape and death threats on social media targeting her and her family after her elimination from the reality show ‘Rise and Fall 2’, calling the abuse “bizarre and disgusting” and warning that legal action would be taken.
Gurpal, who also appeared on ‘Bigg Boss 14’, addressed the threats in a series of Instagram stories, saying viewers could disagree with her opinions on the show but had no right to threaten or abuse her.
“It’s been a while since I addressed you all. Rise and Fall 2 was a one-of-a-kind experience, but what I am experiencing after coming out of the show, especially on social media, is bizarre and disgusting. You can agree or disagree with my opinions, but sending death and rape threats to me and my family and making vulgar comments about my body is absolutely shameful,” she wrote.
“Everyone can have an opinion, but that doesn’t give you the right to threaten or abuse anyone. Such spineless trolls must be held accountable, and strict legal action will be taken against them. Shame on you,” she added.
Gurpal is known for her work in Punjabi films, including ‘Manje Bistre’ and ‘Shava Ni Girdhari Lal’. She was eliminated early from the 14th season of ‘Bigg Boss’ and later emerged as the runner-up on the reality show ‘Reality Ranis of The Jungle 2’ in 2025.
During her stint on ‘Rise and Fall 2’, Gurpal drew attention for clashes with fellow contestants Priyanka Chahar and Gautam Gulati. One confrontation with Gulati turned heated after an incident left her frightened. Gulati said he had not intended to scare her, but the exchange escalated, prompting Gurpal to tell him, “You cannot do this to scare me.”
Gurpal later explained that the incident reminded her of an abusive relationship from her past. “I thought he was the one saying it like that, trying to scare me… I got scared,” she said.
Produced by Banijay Asia, ‘Rise and Fall 2’ is hosted by former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag and streams on Prime Video. (IANS)
