Shah Rukh Khan’s LA Knight Riders Win MLC Championship In Thriller

LOS ANGELES, CA -Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) scripted history by winning their maiden Major League Cricket (MLC) title, edging Washington Freedom by a dramatic one-run margin in a thrilling final at the Oakland Coliseum, with franchise co-owner Shah Rukh Khan leading the celebrations.

The Bollywood star posted, “The LAKR stadium. The championship, cricket in America, awesome @SunilPNarine74 @Jaseholder98 @Russell12A and all of the team. Absolutely outstanding. You all said we are here to win not just participate….and u showed it. Love u all…. Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo,” he wrote.

Batting first, LAKR posted 164 all out in 19.4 overs after solid contributions from across the top order. Andre Fletcher set the tone with a brisk 47 off 27 balls, while Colin Munro made 40 from 29 deliveries. Matthew Tromp added a crucial late cameo of 39 off 21 balls to push the total to a competitive score.

Washington Freedom’s Ben Dwarshuis was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/31.

Defending 165, LAKR’s bowlers produced a disciplined effort under pressure. Sunil Narine starred with a superb spell of 3/13, while captain Jason Holder claimed 3/31 to keep Washington Freedom in check throughout the chase. Shadley van Schalkwyk chipped in with two wickets and held his nerve in the final over as LAKR successfully defended the target.

Obus Pienaar kept Washington Freedom in the contest with a blistering 53 off just 24 balls, but his effort fell just short as the defending finalists finished on 163/9, handing LAKR a memorable one-run victory.

The title triumph capped a remarkable campaign for the Knight Riders, who reached their maiden MLC final before going on to lift the trophy for the first time. Their run to the championship was built on collective performances, timely contributions with both bat and ball, and composure in high-pressure moments.
