Shankar Mahadevan Celebrates ‘Shringaar’ On Times Square Billboard

NEW YORK, NY –  Music maestro Shankar Mahadevan on September 15 celebrated a career highlight as his latest track Shringaar flashed across the giant billboards of New York’s Times Square. The singer shared his joy in a video posted on social media, calling the moment “nothing but gratitude.”

The Hindi track, released on September 1 as part of the album Bhoomi 2025, is a collaboration with composer duo Salim–Sulaiman and lyricist Shraddha Pandit. Voiced by Mahadevan along with Salim–Sulaiman and Pandit, Shringaar is dedicated to the memory of legendary tabla virtuoso Ustad Zakir Hussain.

“As I walk in New York and see Shringaar play here, I feel nothing but gratitude,” Mahadevan captioned his video, adding, “A tribute to Ustad Zakir Hussain Sahab, made with the brilliance of @salimsulaimanmusic and the words of @shraddhapandit. I hope this song reaches your hearts, just as it has reached mine.”

In the clip, Mahadevan can be seen singing a few lines from the track while expressing his affection for his collaborators. Salim Merchant responded to the post with, “Yayyyy! Looking good @shankar.mahadevan bhai,” while Shraddha Pandit wrote, “Wow. This is so cool!! Shringaar ruling our hearts.”

Reflecting on the creation of the song, Mahadevan had earlier said, “Shringaar is a tribute to someone who is our favorite — to me, to Salim–Sulaiman, to the entire musical fraternity. This is a collective musical tribute we have given him. I am sure that when the song plays, he will be looking down on us from above, smiling, blessing us, and giving us all the good wishes he always did.”
