SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Comedian and actor Kumail Nanjiani canceled his scheduled performance at Salesforce’s Dreamforce conference on October 16, joined by Ilana Glazer, who also withdrew, leaving attendees disappointed.

Salesforce attributed the change to “unforeseen circumstances,” while the San Francisco Chronicle reported that the official reason was that Nanjiani fell ill and Glazer, his opening act, opted not to perform.

The cancellations come amid controversy surrounding Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, who recently expressed support for President Donald Trump, including backing Trump’s call to deploy the National Guard in San Francisco.

The controversy has drawn national attention, with The New York Times reporting that Benioff proposed a partnership with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, suggesting ways to use Salesforce technology to expand deportation efforts and hire 10,000 new agents.
