South Asian Impact Opens Applications For Political Mentorship Program

WASHINGTON, DC – The South Asian Impact Foundation has launched Desis Lead 2025, a political mentorship program aimed at empowering South Asians considering a run for office. Applications for the spring cohort (April 1 – June 17, 2025) are open until Friday, March 14.

Aakash Saraf, a member of the 2024 Desis Lead fall cohort, credited the program for equipping him with essential tools to navigate the political landscape. “The Desis Lead program allowed me to hone my skills as a campaign organizer and strategize my own run for office. My mentor immediately connected me to influential people in my state—opportunities I had never had before. I am so glad Indian American Impact created this program,” Saraf said.

The program offers weekly sessions focused on campaign training, community engagement, and direct access to experienced South Asian elected officials. Participants will gain insights from those who have successfully run for office while building a supportive peer network.

Aspiring candidates and those planning a campaign are encouraged to apply or share this opportunity. Applications must be submitted by March 14 at bit.ly/desislead.
