Sundar Pichai: 2025 Critical For Google, Focus On AI

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – Google CEO Sundar Pichai has set the stage for 2025 to be a pivotal year for the company, emphasizing the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) and the need for swift action. During a strategy meeting recently, Pichai urged staff to “internalize the urgency of this moment” as the company faces a defining period in the AI landscape.
“The stakes are high,” Pichai remarked, according to a CNBC report. “These are disruptive moments. In 2025, we need to be relentlessly focused on unlocking the benefits of this technology and solving real user problems.” With this in mind, the company is gearing up for its most ambitious AI-driven year yet, as it pushes forward with the Gemini app—central to Google’s strategy in the rapidly growing field of generative AI.
Pichai acknowledged the growing momentum of Gemini, which has seen significant traction in recent months. However, he emphasized that there’s still work to be done to position the app as an industry leader. “We have some work to do in 2025 to close the gap and establish a leadership position there as well,” he said, signaling the company’s commitment to ramping up efforts in the competitive AI space.
A key focus for Google next year will be scaling Gemini to reach a broader consumer base. Pichai outlined an ambitious goal of attracting 500 million users, placing Gemini in the same league as other flagship Google products. “Scaling Gemini on the consumer side will be our biggest focus next year,” he added.
This bold vision for 2025 comes as Google faces increased scrutiny, including legal challenges that threaten to reshape the company’s operations. In August, a federal judge ruled that Google had unlawfully maintained a monopoly in the search market, and ongoing investigations are expected to have a major impact on its future. Despite these challenges, Pichai remained resolute, noting that such scrutiny is part of the company’s growth and its significant impact on society. “It comes with our size and success,” he explained. “It’s part of a broader trend where tech is now impacting society on a scale. So more than ever, through this moment, we have to make sure we don’t get distracted.”
Despite the intense competition, Pichai emphasized that success doesn’t always require being first in the market. “In history, you don’t always need to be first, but you have to execute well and really be the best in class as a product,” he said. “I think that’s what 2025 is all about.”
The meeting also featured demonstrations of new AI tools, including the Jules coding assistant and an AI-powered notetaking product, NotebookLM, further showcasing Google’s AI-driven innovations heading into 2025.

The Democratic Party has always tried to create obstacles for growth of technology and high technology corporations. They started anti trust case against IBM that went on for 12 years. Fortunately, President Reagan settled it when he became President. Similarly there was anti trust action against Microsoft started by Obama. This was settled by President Trump. China is leading in AI and other technologies. Over regulations and legal actions against American tech companies are hampering the growth in the USA. 90% of Chinese students after graduation from the US return home.
December 31, 2024India has an oversupply of Engineers. Indian American students after graduation are attracted by the American industry who sponsor them for Permanent Resident Visas.
Sundar Pichai is way ahead of development of AI and other technologies. High tech companies should not be hampered by the government.
