Tamil Film ‘America Aavi’ Taps US Professionals For 200 New Roles

CHENNAI-Popular Tamil actor Napoleon, who has settled in the United States, has said his upcoming horror comedy ‘America Aavi’ is the first Tamil film to be shot entirely in the country using film enthusiasts and Tamil technicians living there.

Speaking at the film’s audio and trailer launch in Chennai, Napoleon, a former Tamil film star and Union Minister who later ventured into business and settled in the US, said the project began as a light-hearted effort after his children asked him why he was no longer acting.

“We started making this film in a playful fashion after my children asked me why I was not acting. But as we started making it, it started coming out well. The film has come out really well and I believe it will be to all your liking,” he said.

Directed by Thanjai JPR, the film introduces around 200 new faces, Napoleon said. The participants are professionals in other fields, including doctors, professors, scientists and engineers, many of whom hold senior positions at leading firms in the United States.

“We have introduced around 200 new faces with this film. All of those who have acted in this film are proper professionals in real life. They are doctors, professors, scientists and engineers in real life. They all are in senior positions in leading firms in the United States. We shot this film in the spare time that they could allocate for this film. We have made this film in 75 days,” he said.

Napoleon said making the film was challenging because many of the participants had never even watched a film shoot from the sidelines. He and director Thanjai JPR trained them and worked with them to bring out their performances.

Adish Uthrian has composed the music, while Nashville Prabhu has handled cinematography. Editing is by Linu M. Snehan and Thanjai JPR have penned the lyrics. Stunt Siva has choreographed the stunts, while Kala has handled the dance choreography.

The film is a light-hearted horror comedy. (IANS)
