MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – Vinita Gupta’s memoir, ‘The Woman in Deed: Road to IPO, Bridge Tables, and Beyond,’ was celebrated at a special launch event at the Computer History Museum here, on October 5.

Hosted by Gupta and TiE Silicon Valley Chair and President Anita Manwani, the gathering brought together entrepreneurs, investors, academics, and community leaders from across the Bay Area to honor her journey.

Chief Guest Bipul Sinha, Co-Founder and CEO of Rubrik, spoke about the evolving road to IPO for Indian founders, tracing progress from the 1980s to the present. A fireside chat with pioneering entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist Kanwal Rekhi highlighted Gupta’s grit, her partnership with her late husband Naren, and the importance of reinvention in life and career.

Vinita Gupta made history as the first Indian American woman to take a company public in the United States, founding and leading Digital Link Corporation to success over nearly two decades. Her memoir recounts her journey from immigrant engineer and patent-holder to technology CEO, and later her reinvention through writing and competitive bridge.

In the book, she reflects on the professional milestones and personal challenges that shaped her. “This book is not just about my professional milestones, it is about vulnerability, resilience, and the courage to start anew. My hope is that it inspires young leaders to dream with courage, but to always stay grounded in gratitude,”Gupta said at the event.

The launch concluded with a book signing where Gupta personally engaged with attendees.

Gupta’s accomplishments extend beyond the corporate world. She holds two U.S. patents, earned a bachelor’s degree in electronics and communication from IIT Roorkee, and a master’s in electrical engineering from UCLA. She is a passionate advocate for women in technology and startups, a sought-after international keynote speaker, and an accomplished essayist with work featured in outlets including The Huffington Post.

Adding another dimension to her life, she is a three-time National Bridge Champion, crediting the game with sharpening her strategic thinking, focus, and decision-making—skills that have fueled her entrepreneurial success.

‘The Woman in Deed’ traces Gupta’s path from her childhood in Lucknow,  to the high-stakes world of Silicon Valley. It explores her leadership of Digital Link, which earned a place on the Inc. 500 list of America’s fastest-growing companies, as well as her experiences navigating a male-dominated tech industry, balancing professional and personal challenges, and reinventing herself beyond the corporate sphere.

Business and literary leaders have praised the memoir, with William H. Draper III calling it ‘a beacon for entrepreneurs’ that demonstrates ‘what bold thinking and lifelong learning can accomplish.’

Now based in Woodside, California, Gupta continues to mentor, write, compete in bridge tournaments, and pursue oil painting.
