Trump: Like India-Pakistan, I Can Broker Iran-Israel Peace

WASHINGTON, DC – President Donald Trump said on June 15 he believes he can bring about a peace deal between Iran and Israel.

He compared this to his past claim that he ended a conflict between India and Pakistan. His comments come as tensions remain high after recent missile strikes between Israel and Iran.

Trump posted, “Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal, just like I got India and Pakistan to make, in that case by using TRADE with the United States to bring reason, agreement, and peace into the talks with two excellent leaders who were able to quickly make a decision and STOP!”

Trump also listed other times he said he stepped in to stop fighting. He claimed that during his first term, he prevented a “WAR” between Serbia and Kosovo, a conflict that had lasted decades.

He also took credit for keeping “peace, at least for now,” between Egypt and Ethiopia, who were arguing over a large dam on the Nile River.

However, the Indian government has consistently stated that India and Pakistan reached an agreement on May 10 to end their recent cross-border fighting without any outside help.

Talk of trade being a bargaining tool has not been received well politically by the BJP government and has had the opposition parties pointing fingers at it.

Trump has repeated this claim more than a dozen times. He stated that he “helped settle” tensions by offering a lot of trade with America if the two nuclear-armed South Asian nations stopped fighting.
