US Report Calls For Sanctions Against India’s Spy Agency, RAW

NEW DELHI– India’s Ministry of External Affairs strongly criticized the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom over its latest report, calling it “biased and politically motivated.” The ministry also stated that the USCIRF itself should be designated as an “entity of concern.”

The USCIRF report recommended that India be designated as a “country of particular concern” over alleged religious freedom violations and called for targeted sanctions against India’s foreign intelligence agency, RAW (Research and Analysis Wing). It also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of spreading hateful rhetoric and disinformation against Muslims and other religious minorities.

Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “We have seen the recently released report, which once again follows a pattern of misrepresenting isolated incidents and casting aspersions on India’s vibrant multicultural society.”

He further accused the US panel of pursuing a deliberate agenda rather than genuinely advocating for religious freedom.  “We have no expectation that USCIRF will acknowledge India’s commitment to democracy and tolerance. Efforts to undermine India’s global standing will not succeed,” he said. (with ANI Inputs)
