Virginia’s Saddam Salim Gets Indian American Impact Backing

WASHINGTON, DC – Indian American Impact has endorsed Virginia State Senator Saddam Salim in his campaign for Congress from Virginia’s 7th District. The endorsement continues a partnership that began during Salim’s successful 2023 State Senate campaign.

Chintan Patel, Executive Director of Indian American Impact, cited Salim’s personal background and legislative record as key reasons behind the endorsement. Patel noted that Salim, a first-generation immigrant who experienced homelessness and financial hardship, brings firsthand understanding of the challenges faced by working families.

Patel added that Salim has consistently focused on immigrant communities and issues affecting working families during his time in the Virginia State Senate.

Salim credited Indian American Impact’s support during his 2023 campaign as an important factor in his election victory.

“Their support when I first ran for Senate in 2023 was crucial and one of the many reasons, I was able to take on the establishment and win. I know that with their support in this critical primary, we’ll be able to do the same this time,” he added.

Indian American Impact, founded in 2016, supports Indian American and South Asian American political candidates through endorsements, grassroots organizing, voter outreach, and fundraising efforts across the US.
