CINCINNATI, OH — Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has congratulated tennis veteran Rajeev Ram on capturing the men’s doubles crown at the 2025 Cincinnati Open, here calling the 41-year-old’s success “a true inspiration.”
Ram, partnering Croatia’s Nikola Mektic, rallied past Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego and Lorenzo Musetti 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 to secure the prestigious ATP Masters 1000 title.
Ramaswamy, who once shared junior tennis courts with Ram in the Midwest, reflected on the tennis player’s remarkable journey, framing his friend’s career as a model of perseverance for both athletes and fans. “Congrats to my friend Rajeev Ram on winning the men’s doubles ATP title in Cincinnati this year, incredibly at age 41,” Ramaswamy wrote. “He’s gone on to win six Grand Slams and a silver medal for Team USA at the Olympics. Proud of you man!”
Born in Colorado and raised in Indiana, Ram has become one of the most decorated doubles specialists in modern tennis. A former world No. 1 in doubles, he owns six Grand Slam titles, an Olympic silver medal, and two ATP Finals championships.
He also runs the Rajeev Ram Foundation, which supports youth tennis development in Indiana and organizes the Indy Challenger, an ATP Challenger-level tournament.
