With Over 2 Million Diyas, Ayodhya Aiming For Guinness Records

AYODHYA (ANI) – Ayodhya’s Deepotsav celebration this year aims to secure two Guinness World Records as it commemorates the first Diwali since the completion of the Ram Temple. This grand celebration will attempt to set records for a 1,100-person Saryu Aarti and a massive lamp-lighting event, with over 2.5 million diyas arranged along the ghats.

A dedicated 30-member team from the Guinness Book of World Records, led by team in-charge Nischal Barot, has arrived in Ayodhya to oversee the preparations. Barot announced that, “This is the seventh Deepotsav, but it’s special as it’s the first since the Ram Temple was built. This time, we’re attempting two Guinness World Records: a record-breaking 1,100 people performing the Saryu Aarti and the lighting of 2.5 million diyas.”

The Guinness team has already set out over 1.2 million lamps, with the final count to be confirmed through a specialized software system ensuring precision. According to Barot, one of the greatest challenges is maintaining accurate measurements for counting. Each square area designated for diyas must be precisely 16×16 feet, as any variance can complicate the tally. “Our 30-member team is supported by 300 volunteers working across an area spanning one and a half kilometers,” Barot explained, noting the complexity added by the vast layout of the site.

The process involves a meticulous dry count of diyas before they are filled with oil and lit. Volunteers ensure all diyas meet the specified measurements to avoid discrepancies. Additionally, the team has planned a trial run for the evening aarti with over 1,100 participants to ensure a smooth and coordinated event.
