Pramila Jayapal Introduces Amendment, Targets Billionaire Influence
India-West News Desk
WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) introduced a constitutional amendment on February 13 to overturn Citizens United, aiming to curb the unchecked influence of billionaires like Elon Musk in U.S. politics.
The 2010 Supreme Court ruling allowed corporations and the ultra-wealthy to pour unlimited money into elections. Jayapal’s amendment would eliminate corporate personhood and require full disclosure of campaign contributions at all levels of government.
“Corporations are not people and money is not speech,” Jayapal said. “Each election cycle, we see more dark money flooding campaigns—this year, with a billionaire paying millions to buy a seat as Shadow President.”
The amendment, backed by 28 lawmakers, comes as Musk wields unprecedented influence over federal agencies. After donating $260 million to pro-Trump Super PACs, Trump rewarded him with a dubious “special government employee” role overseeing federal spending cuts. Critics argue Musk has already profited massively, with his wealth surging $154 billion since election day.
Many see Citizens United as the enabler of this billionaire takeover, shifting power from voters to corporate elites.

I think the Democrats are missing the point here. American people are pissed and angry about the wastage of their taxes, while there isn’t enough fund for catastrophe in America. And the debt is $36T+, which takes 20+% of the U.S. budget each year and it’s increasing.
Say, it’s some “Joe Smith” is finding all these details of mis-management, corruption, interfering with democratically elected governments, enhancing their leaders’s families pockets, giving social securities to 16M+ people over 110 years (and the checks are cashed) and “missing money”, who would they go after?
