WASHINGTON, DC – Kashyap “Kash” Patel has been confirmed as the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), becoming the first Indian American to hold the position. The Republican-controlled Senate approved his nomination by a narrow 51-49 vote on February 20.

Following the confirmation, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino celebrated the occasion with a post on X, sharing a video from the Bollywood film Bajirao Mastani, featuring Patel’s face superimposed on the lead actor Ranveer Singh as he dances to “Malhari.” The post, captioned “Congratulations to the new Director of the FBI, @Kash_Patel,” has garnered over three million views and thousands of likes.

Born in New York in 1980 to Gujarati parents, Patel spent part of his childhood in East Africa before returning to the U.S.
