
Indian Embassy Launches Second Phase Of MARG Mentoring Program

WASHINGTON D.C. – The Embassy of India here has launched the second phase of its virtual mentoring initiative, MARG – Mentoring for Academic Excellence and Research Guidance. The program connects Indian-origin faculty from leading U.S. universities with students and researchers from Indian institutions to facilitate knowledge exchange, skill development, and research collaboration.
Faculty members from Stanford University, Purdue University, the University of Maryland, and George Mason University are participating in this series. At the launch event, Deputy Chief of Mission Sripriya Ranganathan highlighted the growing academic and research partnerships between India and the United States, particularly in critical and emerging technology sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, biotechnology, cybersecurity, and agricultural technology.
The program is designed to strengthen India’s academic and research ecosystem by leveraging the expertise of the Indian diaspora. Ranganathan also encouraged participants to explore Indian government initiatives like the Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC), the Vaishvik Bharatiya Vaigyanik (VAIBHAV) Fellowship, and GYAN to further advance research and innovation.
Leaders from Indian universities welcomed the initiative, emphasizing its potential to benefit students and faculty engaged in cutting-edge research and education. MARG is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education of India, the University Grants Commission of India, and the Department of Agricultural Research and Education of India.
