US Embassy In India: No More Third-Party Passport Pickup
India-West News Desk
NEW DELHI– Effective immediately the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi has discontinued third-party passport collection in India. The change, announced by the embassy, is a security measure designed to enhance the safety of passports and supporting visa documents.
The new policy mandates that all visa applicants must collect their passports in person from the embassy or a consulate. For minors, a parent or legal guardian may collect the passport, provided they have an original, signed consent letter from both parents. Scanned or emailed consent letters will not be accepted.
To provide an alternative to in-person collection, applicants can opt for a home or office delivery service for a fee of ₹1,200. This option can be selected by updating the document delivery preferences online.
The embassy advises that any technical issues encountered during this process should be reported through the “Feedback/Requests” feature on the applicant’s profile, including a screenshot of the error and the preferred delivery location. Applicants should avoid contacting the call center for these updates and instead refer to the official website or their Visa Application Home page for more information.
