Walmart Denies H-1B Scandal, But Online Firestorm Rages

India-West News Desk

BENTONVILLE, AR – Social media backlash over H-1B visas continues, even as Walmart flatly denied reports that recent layoffs at its company were tied to the program.

Speculation about fraud-linked firings first surfaced on Blind, the anonymous workplace forum, and was later echoed by CTOL Digital Solutions, a Switzerland-based IT consultancy. Despite CTOL noting that Walmart had not confirmed the claims, the posts fueled a wave of online outrage.

Walmart has now issued a direct rebuttal: “Following an investigation, Walmart recently terminated one vendor and a small number of U.S.-based associates. This investigation had nothing to do with H1B visas.”

The denial has not quelled the uproar. Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) amplified the claims by reposting CTOL’s report, asking: “Is it time to pause H1-B visas?”

Other accounts also continued circulating unverified claims that Walmart jobs were being shifted to Indian workers.

The episode highlights how the H-1B program—long a flashpoint in debates over outsourcing and skilled immigration—remains a lightning rod for political and online controversy.

  • H1-B visas for cheap labor are just used by big co-op to save money, Corp do not wish to pay the American worker, so they use H1_B visa ..Our President Trump should stop the issuance H1-B visa.

  • There is no requirement to advertise locally before filling it with an H-1b worker.

Because of this, managers are tempted to buy/sell job opportunities to the highest (kickback) bidder, all the while claiming they can’t find anyone for the job.

H-1b should be reformed to require that all employers advertise the job first on US job boards, starting with the most popular. And the job should be advertised on the company public website.

Written feedback given to those not hired as to why they went with the other candidate.

Only this way can we clean up this corrupt program.
